Morty's Cabin Radio
Remember the Golden Age of Radio? That time before TV really took off when we were informed and entertained by using our ears and our imaginations? The radio was the entertainment center of the household in those days. And did olde tyme radio have a lot to offer! Radio theater, radio comedy, radio drama. There were Westerns like The Lone Ranger, kids shows like Superman and Sargeant Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police [with his trusty dog, King]. Orson Welles scared the pants off us in 1938 with his science fiction drama, War of the Worlds. The East Coast was in a panic! We really did think we were being invaded by Martians. But Jack Benny and Fibber Magee were also there to make us laugh. Even listening to the old time radio commercials is a hoot.

This is the place to relax and spend some time with yourself and with those wonderful days of yesteryear. If you're like me, you listened to the radio in the late 40's and early 50's. Yup. I listened to ALL the radio shows.

I remember one time, as a kid in grammar school, getting up in the morning and saying to myself, "I do NOT want to go to school today!" So, I took the oral thermometer and stuck it under the warm water in the kitchen sink. I stuck the thing in my mouth after calling Mom.

"Mom, I got a fever and I don't feel good!"
"Oh dear. You do have a temperature. Get into bed and I'll call the doctor."

Morty's Cabin Radio
I was about 9 years old. It was a Friday. WHOOPEE! I listened from early in the morning to late into the night. Don MacNeil's Breakfast Club--"March around the breakfast table ... and now, each in our own words, each in our own way, let us bow our heads and pray." Followed by Arthur Godfrey--"You have to let Lipton Tea STEEP. Never dunk those teabags..." Followed by the soaps, then the afternoon kid shows.

On and on into the night for Gang Busters and Lux Radio Theater. In those times, kids listened and used their imagination to 'see' the film in their minds' eye. That was reality. Reality was what we created in our minds. We saw the bad guys on "FBI in War and Peace," we saw the funny moves of the great comedians of the time.

Well, now you can 'see' those radio shows again. Radio Spirits and Morty's Cabin have teamed up to bring you a new olde tyme radio show every day! SIMPLY THE BEST radio has to offer, in any era, whether it be mystery, suspense, adventure or variety. So stay tuned. Don't touch that dial. Same time, same station. Brought to you by Morty and Media Bay (Radio Spirits®).

And now a word from our sponsor. "Rich, rich, rich with flavor. Smooth, smooth, smooth as silk. Junket Rennet Custard, and it's made with milk."

With love,
Morty
